Lancashire Hot Spot

Day off for a midweek twitch with Mark, Andy and Peter to Nateby in Lancs where a juvenile Solitary Sandpiper had been found on a small flash in a farmers field there at the weekend, the bird was still present this morning and true to its name it was all on its own, it showed very well albeit a little distant for photography although I got some Digi-scoped record shots, happy with that we then went up to nearby Glasson on the Lune Estuary for a juv Lesser Yellowlegs that has been in the area for a while, we had a good scan around and found a couple of Curlew Sandpipers amongst the hundreds of Redshanks but there was no sign of the Yellowlegs today. We then took a long trek south to Parkgate Marsh in Cheshire where we eventually found one of the Great White Egrets, there had been two reported in the area, among the many Grey Herons and Little Egrets, altogether not a bad day.
