A season of mists and mellow.... well mists anyway

Out with Andy today, back to earth from his Madagascar Odyssey and we felt Flamborough seemed the best bet again, it was a misty start in York but seemed to clear once we were over the Wolds but par for the course there had a been a clear out of migrants overnight and Flamborough was very quiet, to make matters worse the fog rolled back in mid morning reducing visibility somewhat, we persevered with it into the early afternoon but when it didn't look like it was going to clear we decided to head back inland to North Cave Wetlands. Although we drove through some clear patches en route it was still foggy when we reached North Cave but it eventually started to lift and we managed to find the Jack Snipe that has been there for a week or more, there was little else on offer though the best being a Buzzard over the back fields, a small flock of Siskins and Lesser Redpolls feeding on Alders and a drake Goldeneye on Village Lake.
