A trek North

Me, Mark and Paz headed North this morning up to Beadnell Bay for a Lesser Yellowlegs that has been there over the last couple of days however upon arrival we found out the bird had actually flown off last night and nobody had put the news out, on top of that the other goodies, Pectoral and Wood Sandpipers at Bamburgh, had also gone, we were a bit disappointed to say the least. We carried on to Seahouses and had a look around the Harbour but there was nothing more than a few Eiders present, then heading back South we checked out Low Newton Pools at the Southern end of Beadnell Bay, nice pair of Stonechat but not a lot else. Next up was Amble as Paz was quite keen to look for Roseate Tern which would be a lifer for him, we found a good vantage point looking over to Coquet Island and managed to pick out several birds over there but they were rather distant and although views were good enough for me and Mark to year tick them, Paz felt he would like to see them better before he ticked them, lots of Sandwich and Arctic Terns as well, carried on to Druridge Bay where we found out a couple of Bearded Reedlings had been showing well by the hide at Cresswell Ponds, they were heard calling as we walked up the path but it had become very windy by this time and we only managed a couple of brief flight views, a pair of Avocets were in front of the hide and another snippet of information was received, a Wood Sandpiper was on Lynemouth Flash just down the road, we got good views of that. There had been a few bits and bops round Teesside today and as we passed we dropped into Crimdon Dene just North of Hartlepool where the Little Terns are back, quite a good number flying around and several were showing well on the beach also a few summer plumaged Sanderling there as well, it was then on to Greatham Creek where a Spoonbill has been hanging around for a day or two, not in view this evening though, it was getting quite late by this point so we called it a day.
